Training Missions

These are five missions that explain the rudiments of the game. New players are strongly encouraged to take them before asking for help.

Combat Missions

These missions are available to raise your Combat and Light/Heavy weapon license levels through observed combat situations by your respective nations.

Beginner Combat Practice

  • An officially-sanctioned training mission by your nation's government; go out and kill low-level bots (Collectors to be specific) for combat and weapons xp. This mission is replaced by Advanced Combat Practice once you reach combat level 3.

Advanced Combat Practice

  • An officially-sanctioned training mission by your nation's government; hunt bots from a list for combat and weapons xp.

Border Patrol

  • For Itani and Serco only, this mission is only available in Betheshee, Deneb, Eo and Geira Rutilus, at light and heavy weapon licences 4. Fight and kill 15 players (or NPCs in Centurions, depending if any enemy players are actually involved in the mission) in Deneb C-10 to recieve 1500/1500/1500/0/0 exp. When fighting in groups, you get about 1500 xp in combat, light, and heavy weapons, for each person in the group. Ex: 3-person group = 4500/4500/4500/0/0 gain in xp but the mission requires you to kill 45 bots. Depending on each person in the group, the mission requires 15 bots per person. The npc ships stats are 20/15/15/0/0 and fly Centurions MkII's.

Assassination

  • You are asked liquidate two 'hight priority targets,' one from each enemy nation. Station Guards and Strike Force quality.

Killing Spree

  • This is a somewhat broken mission that was one of the first missions made with the new architecture. Nobody knows how it made it to the production server, or why it's still there.

Hive Skirmish

  • In most systems bots re-spawn quickly after they are destroyed. Hive presence can be temporarily eradicated in certain sectors, however, by taking this mission from Xang Xi Stations. After signing up for the mission you are asked to boom bots in a specific sector. For each bot you kill you are given, in addition to the normal weapons xp, combat xp and credits determined by its 'difficulty.'
  • This mission can also be used to locate queens and a leviathan by identifying the sector in which the most hive bots are reported. This isn't completely reliable, however.

Escort

  • You accompany an npc convoy, fending off potential threats. Rewards include modest trade and combat xp, credits determined by the sale of the goods you accompanied, and a small boost of your standing with the destination's faction.

Trade Guild

These missions give you Trade xp as well as occasional Mining xp.

Interface

The Trade Guild missions require you to interact with the Mission Computer in order to finally decide your mission.

Here is an example of the main interface:
The Tunguska trading guild has a number of jobs available. What kind of work are you looking for? 1) Delivery 2) Special Delivery 3) Procurement 4) Retrieval 5) Minerals 6) Never mind, I'm not interested.

Here is an example of a mission you can choose:
1) Retrieve 38 Phase Array crates (3 cu) from Nyrius F-6, Asuin Tech (2 jumps) (bulk) (35700 credits)

  1. Above, the (3 cu) means that the cargo the pilot would be picking up would take up 3 cu's of cargo space. If you do not see this, assume the cargo takes up 1 cu.
  2. (2 jumps) means that the pilot has to go through two wormholes each way, two there, two back.
  3. (bulk) means that the pilot will need to make more than one trip, even in a large cargo ship such as a Centaur with the possible exception of those traders who have a Behemoth.
  4. (35700 credits) is the amount the pilot will be paid upon completion of the mission.

Delivery

One-way cargo run. Can be bulk.

Tips

  • If you plan on going somewhere far away from where you are currently or need a change in scenery, then this is the trade mission for you.

Special Delivery

Deliver a unique ((These items cannot be bought, but can be sold for a decent price. Only available through missions.)) item to its destination. There are no bulk Special Delivery missions.

Tips

  • If you plan on going somewhere far away from where you are currently or need a change in scenery, then this is the trade mission for you. Has the added bonus of being a mission with lightweight cargo and only one unit of it at that. Perfect for those who are couriers at heart.

Procurement

Make yourself useful by being a faction's gopher. They ask for something, you find and pay for it and bring it back for a reimbursal and payment. May be bulk.

Tips

  • These missions offer more reward in every respect than the Retrieval missions do. (Standing, xp, money)

Retrieval

The same as Procurement missions, only you don't have to buy the cargo. ((And you obviously don't get a reimbursal either!)) Again, may be bulk.

Tips

  • For someone who wants to get in and out fast as well as continue working for one particular area, these missions work great.

Minerals

They ask for a particular ore, you go mine it and bring it back. These missions will yeild both Trade xp and Mining xp.

Tips

  • Check the roids in the area outside the station before you select this mission. If you can, pick an ore that you can easily get without leaving the protection of the station.
  • A majority of the time, the station will ask for either Aqueaus or Silicate ore. If you take several missions from the same station they may start to ask for ores such as Ferric, Carbonic, Ishik, VanAzek, and sometimes Pentric and Pyronic.
  • If you're looking to do primarily mineral missions, try to take missions from "mining stations", they offer 6-8 mineral missions in a row before they will require you to take a different mission type.
  • Stockpiling large ammounts of ore in the station prior to taking the mineral missions can greatly speed up the process. Missions generally require a 32-48cu haul per mission.
  • While it may not be the fastest, mineral missions are a great way to build up standing with a particular faction. Check the faction your interested in raising your standing with and see if they have a mining station.
  • Good mining ships are:
  1. Atlas TPG X-Type - Great for mining in bot infested asteroid fields, cargo hold (38), single mining beam config.
  2. Centaur Aggresso - Cargo hold (50cu), twin mining beams config.
  3. Mineral Marauder - Cargo hold (60cu), twin mining beam config.
  4. Behemoth - Cargo hold (120cu), twin mining beam config.

Prospecting Missions

There are 120 Prospecting missions, 4 in each of the systems. All you need to do is find 30 roids with a mineral the station will choose (you will be provided with a scanner; if you have one already on your ship you can use that).

Mission Tab Interface

Minimal. Status update and abort.

Tips

  • Take advantage of the fact that these missions are very open in what you can do; you are not required to return to your starting station, you can mine from the roids you scan, you can even log off and continue the mission when you return.
  • Because the mission only picks commonly found mineral types (Aquean, Carbonic, Ferric, Silicate) and infrequently slightly less common ones (Ishik, VanAzek, Xithricite), you should scout out the area around the station before you start the mission if you want to make it faster. Accept missions where the selected mineral is in a majority of the roids outside the station if you can. Remember: leaving and entering the station will update the prospecting mission and possibly change the type of ore required.

Scrap Yard

Collect Scrap Metal from the AI bots and return it to the station so they can begin a construction project.

Recon/Spy

There are four missions in this set. They are all finicky.

Secret Meeting

  • Your mission is to use a scanner to find a particular ship within a pack of UIT NPCs roaming a randomly-picked sector.

Anomalous Materials

  • Kill 'marked' DenTek collectors, but don't let the one with the chemicals touch anything or the mission will fail! You will be given a scanner and a sector to go to. Use the scanner to determine whether the bot is one that counts towards the mission's goal or is carrying the chemicals.

Hostage Situation

  • Hostages have been taken. You must free them by finding the ship in which they are imprisoned and lowering its armor to less than some percentage.

Mining Tutorial

This mission is available at mining stations. It explains the mining system in Vendetta Online, and gives mining xp sufficient to gain level 1.

Test Pilot Missions

TPG Test Pilot

  • Initially qualified the player to fly the TPG Raptor. Currently provides no benefits- at least until the next new TPG ship is released.

Itani Test Pilot

  • Completion of this mission unlocks the Valkyrie X-1. You will have to destroy, without assistance, ten ships that will come in two waves. It can be taken from Itani reseach stations.
