Missions are the best way to gain money, faction standing and experience points in Vendetta Online.

Combat Missions

These missions are used primarily to raise your Combat and Light/Heavy weapon license levels.

Beginner Combat Practice

An officially-sanctioned training mission by your nation's government; go out and kill low-level bots (bots:collectors to be specific) for combat and weapons xp.

Mission Tab Interface

Allows for requesting and changing frequency of status updates (how often the mission computer tells you how many bots you need to kill until your next bonus) and aborting the mission.

Tips

Your bonus increases in value for every five bots you kill. Because your bonus loosely depends on the type of collector you kill, if you're already somewhat skilled at botting, start with the Denteks. After 20 consecutive kills (dying resets the counter) your bonus will only increase after 5 kills of Artemis or Dentek collectors.

Continue with the Beginner Combat Practice until you reach Combat level 3, at which time you become unable to take it.

Advanced Combat Practice

An officially-sanctioned training mission by your nation's government; hunt bots from a list for combat and weapons xp.

Mission Tab Interface

Allows for requesting and changing frequency of status updates (how often the mission computer tells you how many bots you need to kill until your next bonus) and aborting the mission.

Tips

In this mission, you can take out any combination of bots from the list or just concentrate on one of them. Your bonus does not increase in this mission, so in general, the harder the bot, the higher the bonus.

Even though ApuTech-5 Guardians appear first on the list and have the lowest bonus, this does not mean they are the easiest bot. Try a TyCorp Assault or Valent A-47 Assault instead. (The author recommends the TyCorps first as they are effectively bigger, badder collector bots.)

Border Patrol

For nations:Itani and nations:Serco only, this mission is only available in Betheshee, Deneb, Eo and Geira Rutilus. Fight and kill 3 players (or NPCs in Centurions) in Deneb E-7 to recieve 600 Combat, Light and Heavy xp.

Mission Tab Interface

None.

Tips

This mission allows you to practice combat against hostile player-usable ships. Experiment and see what setup works for you.

Trade Guild

These missions give you Trade xp as well as occasional Mining xp.

Interface

The Trade Guild missions require you to interact with the Mission Computer in order to finally decide your mission.

Here is an example of the main interface:
The Tunguska trading guild has a number of jobs available. What kind of work are you looking for? 1) Delivery 2) Special Delivery 3) Procurement 4) Retrieval 5) Minerals 6) Never mind, I'm not interested.

Here is an example of a mission you can choose:
1) Retrieve 38 Phase Array crates (3 cu) from Nyrius F-6, Asuin Tech (2 jumps) (bulk) (35700 credits)

  1. Above, the (3 cu) means that the cargo the pilot would be picking up would take up 3 cu's of cargo space. If you do not see this, assume the cargo takes up 1 cu.
  2. (2 jumps) means that the pilot has to go through two wormholes each way, two there, two back.
  3. (bulk) means that the pilot will need to make more than one trip, even in a large cargo ship such as a Centaur.
  4. (35700 credits) is the amount the pilot will be paid upon completion of the mission.

Delivery

One-way cargo run. Can be bulk.

Tips

If you plan on going somewhere far away from where you are currently or need a change in scenery, then this is the trade mission for you.

Special Delivery

Deliver a unique ((These items cannot be bought, but can be sold for a decent price. Only available through missions.)) item to its destination. There are no bulk Special Delivery missions.

Tips

If you plan on going somewhere far away from where you are currently or need a change in scenery, then this is the trade mission for you. Has the added bonus of being a mission with lightweight cargo and only one unit of it at that. Perfect for those who are couriers at heart.

Procurement

Make yourself useful by being a faction's gopher. They ask for something, you find and pay for it and bring it back for a reimbursal and payment. May be bulk.

Tips

These missions offer more reward in every respect than the Retrieval missions do. (Standing, xp, money)

Retrieval

The same as Procurement missions, only you don't have to buy the cargo. ((And you obviously don't get a reimbursal either!)) Again, may be bulk.

Tips

For someone who wants to get in and out fast as well as continue working for one particular area, these missions work great.

Minerals

They ask for a particular ore, you go mine it and bring it back. The upside? You get both Trade and Mining xp on these missions. The downside? You actually have to go look for the ore in some cases.

Tips

Check the roids in the area outside the station before you select this mission. If you can, pick an ore that you can easily get without leaving the protection of the station.

Prospecting Missions

There are 120 Prospecting missions, 4 in each of the systems. All you need to do is find 30 roids with a mineral the station will choose (you will be provided with a scanner; if you have one already on your ship you can use that).

Mission Tab Interface

Minimal. Status update and abort.

Tips

Take advantage of the fact that these missions are very open in what you can do; you are not required to return to your starting station, you can mine from the roids you scan, you can even log off and continue the mission when you return.

Because the mission only picks commonly found mineral types (Aquean, Carbonic, Ferric, Silicate) and infrequently slightly less common ones (Ishik, VanAzek, Xithricite), you should scout out the area around the station before you start the mission if you want to make it faster. Accept missions where the selected mineral is in a majority of the roids outside the station if you can. Remember: leaving and entering the station will update the prospecting mission and possibly change the type of ore required.

Scrap Yard

Collect Scrap Metal from the AI bots and return it to the station so they can begin a construction project.

Mission Tab Interface

Minimal. Status update (how many crates left?) and abort.

Tips

When you bot (even if you're not taking this mission), grab the Scrap Metal dropped by the destroyed bots. Store it in some central location that is easy to get to.

If you need it for a Scrap Yard mission, all you have to do is ship it to the station.
