Unaligned Pirates, commonly called "Unrats" by the community, are a form of dynamic assault against organized commerce and travel by pirates that eschew any factional ties. Every 4-16 hours, a pirate captain will appear in a random empty sector and fill it with debris, recruiting and deploying pirate fighters within the system to blockade the wormholes and shoot down anyone that appears. Finding and dispatching with this menace has become a routine task for many players due to the threat and the potential rewards found in the loot.
Unaligned Pirate Captain
The pirate captain (normally) flies a trident and patrols around his debris field, flanked by his escort of pirate fighters. On most days, the captain can be found within Bractus, Odia, or Sedina, but on Saturdays can also be found in Latos while piloting a stolen Constellation.
Statistics of the standard pirate captain:

Unaligned Pirate Fighters
The pirate fighters come in three unique variants, but are always found together and prove to be a veritable nuisance to many experienced pilots. However, the individuals that make up these fighter swarms are cowardly individuals - if damaged enough, fighters will break away from the assault and set course right to their captain, a fact often exploited by those who take up the task of freeing an infested system. While the fighters do fly different ships, they do have red streaks of paint applied to their hulls - a fact few pilots ever notice as they'll be too worried by the weaponized plasma barreling towards them instead.
Pirate Raptor Type 1
The standard fighter within a pirate swarm, flying a raptor.
