Flight-Assist (also known as "Arcade Mode") makes your ship behave like an airplane flying in an atmosphere. Your ship's computer will calculate the proper thrust to apply such that your ship will always fly in the direction you are pointing and at the speed your throttle is set to. Your current Flight-Assist status is indicated in the HUD, and the toggle is bound to the ' (apostrophe) key by default.
