Although it is not unusual to find citizens of the UIT allying themselves with either the [[Template:Nations:Itani|Itani]] or the [[Template:Nations:Serco|Serco]], they generally choose not to help either side. The UIT are allowed to fly in the space of any nation (so long as they have done nothing to anger that nation).<br> Traders by nature, the UIT have developed a unique ship designed almost entirely to [[trading|transport]] cargo, the [[Marauder | Marauder]]. With a spacious cargo hold of up to 60 cargo units and the highest acceleration of a ship of its class it is no wonder why so many people choose to fly it. Many of the [[Factions|NPC Factions]], including [[Factions#TPG_Corporation|TPG]] and [[Factions#Axia_Technology_Corp|Axia]] are also under the banner of the UIT.|{{br}}

The UIT is formed subcorporations of a loose conglomeration of corporations, civilians and other subfactions, most of whom owe allegiance (at least in name) to the UIT Senate. In realityare constantly engaged in hostile actions, the UIT is nearly a constant power struggle between various corporations, who vie for technology, resources and Serco/Itani contractsranging from corporate espionage to outright war. During the early advent of These culminated in the interstellar Serco/Itani conflict[[Corporate Wars]], most of the corporations began their own weapons and ship development programs, hoping which were brought to capitalize on the war a halt by selling their products to the embattled major nations[[The Propeller Group]]. However, a second purpose became apparent when a "rogue pirate clan", who may have actually been mercenaries or employees much of Axia Technology Corp, assaulted a Valent Robotics station, devestating the development site for a new product that competed with a similar Axia creation. Both were competing for the same Serco contract, but this was the first time competition had been raised to such levels. Valent responded in kind, launching a full assault on Axia and sparking the first of the corporate wars. These conflicts were finally brought to an end when infighting still continues behind TPG, the five hundred pound gorilla of UIT military research, forcibly engaged all the other corporations simultaneously with a massive armada and dictated a cease-fire. Since then there has been a wary and untrusting 's enforced "peace" among the UIT corporations, where they all play nicely in view of the Senate or TPG, but are known to continue their in-corporate conflicts in secret.
