Some stuff that I want to put on here but is too messy for the main page:
So you REALLY want to do this?
There are actually a bunch of ways to plug your controller into your PC. Here are the ones I know of in descending order of ease:
- Buy a premade adapter
- Turn the detachable bit of the controller cable into an adapter
- Rip out a controller port from your Xbox and turn that into an adapter
I've had success from 1 and 3, and see no reason why 2 wouldn't work either.
Note that 3 requires voiding your Xbox's warranty, opening it up, and removing a load of other stuff beforehand. And the controller ports are paired, so you have to remove two and cut through the thick plastic holding them together.
Anyway the point is that messing with your Xbox is dicey, and you're probably better off looking for a premade solution if you don't already have an adapter.
